‘Style Never Dies’ is the fitting title for my recent article, which celebrates Elvis Presley on the 40 year anniversary of his passing. GQ Germany have made my feature their front cover for the September issue and given The King 6 pages of editorial inside the magazine. As the contributors page explains, I handed my article into the editor 24 hours before giving birth to my baby last month – I’m exhausted just thinking about it! Viva The King.

This wonderful exhibition currently at the V&A museum in London examines the work and legacy of influential Spanish couturier Cristóbal Balenciaga. It includes over 100 pieces crafted by ‘the master’ of couture, his protégées and contemporary fashion designers working in the same innovative tradition. Although perhaps a little more room could have been dedicated to the original Balenciaga garments (which are given as much floor space as his influence on contemporary designers) overall, it was a really inspiring showcase of a fashion designer using his intellect to explore female dress. The show is on until the 18th Feb 2018 and tickets cost £12.

On Sunday evening I headed to the Victoria & Albert Museum to see the LFW collection from recent Central St Martins graduate Fei Fei Cicada. The format of the show was really successful – following a catwalk presentation, the audience were then invited into the sculpture galleries to photograph the models and clothing up close. With blogging and social media playing such an important role in the fashion industry, it seems a smart idea for designers to think about how the details of their creations can be shown online. I’d be interested to see if more designers start to incorporate a static presentation into their traditional catwalk shows.

I’m really excited that my first book entitled Elvis Style: From Zoot Suits to Jumpsuits is going to be hitting the shelves this July! The designer has just finalised the layout and it’s looking terrific. Hal Lansky of Lansky Bros. in Memphis (Elvis’ favourite tailoring house) has written the foreword, and lots of great design experts have offered their opinions on Elvis’ influential style. It has already been trending on a few Amazon hot new release lists – more updates to follow! http://www.elvisstylebook.com
