We’ve just returned from a fantastic family road trip around Texas, which included staying at a dude ranch for a couple of nights in Bandera – the Cowboy Capital of the World! Here’s a few images of our time at the Flying L Ranch, where we spent our time trail riding, feeding deer and listening to Buck sing cowboy songs around the campfire. I couldn’t recommend it more!: https://flyingl.com/

On a recent trip through Kentucky, I fell for its nostalgic small towns, unique attractions, hip eateries and old-time music scene. Travelling from Louisville up into Northern Kentucky, then onto Georgetown and Lexington, we encountered a quirky and authentic side of America that you’ll only discover if you venture away from the major cities and head off the beaten track in The Bluegrass State. We recently visited Finland for the first time, on the hunt for the best Moomin-related places to visit for Absolutely Mama magazine. We decided to take the scenic route to Moomin World in Turku, by starting our adventure in Helsinki with a visit to one of the popular Moomin cafes. There are now five in the city, serving up locally produced dishes in Nordic-chic surroundings. If your kids like Moomins, they will adore these quirky, Moomin-tastic cafes. There are Moomin characters sprinkled onto drinks, food is served on Moomin plates, the biscuits are Moomin shaped, you can have a Moomin tea party with the various toys dotted around the café, or relax in the reading corner with a book – by Tove Jansson, naturally! http://muminkaffe.com/en/

We’ve just returned from Moomin World in Finland, which is probably the most brilliantly bonkers place we’ve visited as a family so far! It’s an entire island off the coast of Turku, which is dedicated to Tove Jansson’s Moomin characters. Instead of hectic theme park rides, it’s all about imaginative play and nature. There’s a barefoot nature trail, a really peaceful kid’s beach, loads of Moomin characters to hug and interact with, play houses in the forest to explore and lots of singing and theatre shows. It was completely charming and we all fell in love with it! For further info see https://www.moominworld.fi/
