This wonderful exhibition currently at the V&A museum in London examines the work and legacy of influential Spanish couturier Cristóbal Balenciaga. It includes over 100 pieces crafted by ‘the master’ of couture, his protégées and contemporary fashion designers working in the same innovative tradition. Although perhaps a little more room could have been dedicated to the original Balenciaga garments (which are given as much floor space as his influence on contemporary designers) overall, it was a really inspiring showcase of a fashion designer using his intellect to explore female dress. The show is on until the 18th Feb 2018 and tickets cost £12.
